The more I consider the brain at work, the more I see unique approaches to workplace challenges that inspire, prosper, and win!
It takes sustainable brainpower though, at a time when many firms downsize workers as highly expendable.
Consider 5 linchpins for sustainable brainpower at any workplace:
1. Race relations splash vibrant new hues when we appeal to multiple
intelligences. In contrast, people speak of broken systems where workers take potshots at rivals. The brain is equipped to build goodwill with others – especially those who disagree. Can you see the value added to any firm?
2. Attendance improves when workers develop and use more mental acumen. Boredom overwhelms far fewer people who begin their day with a brain based question … “What could I invent?” Because brains leap to innovative adventures, people maintain interest, and absenteeism drops. Imagine the dollars saved.
3. Solutions come far faster to brains primed to solve problems rather than complain or vent. When a culture of negatives defines work, a firm loses zip. Instead, winning companies consider how the human brain produces more natural chemicals … so workers become highly enthused by what they do. People can literally raise their own lower levels of dopamine, and that triggers higher performance. Work sparks profits when solutions replace problems on a daily basis.
4. Collaboration is the key driver of quality performance of companies and said to be twice as significant as a company’s aggressiveness in pursuing new market opportunities ... and five times more significant than the external market environment. In failing firms though, people verbally abuse fellow workers and blame clients for poor productivity. Toss in brain based tone tactics that improve performance and watch winning adventures arise at work.
5. Vision adds sheer joy and increased participation in top-shelf firms. Increasingly workers today though … suffer stress that steals satisfaction… and lowers production on any ordinary day at work. Did you know that stress literally shrinks the human brain and shuts it down, whereas increased serotonin sparks new zest for excellence at work.
What defines your workplace brainpower? Talk to a few dissatisfied workers and you’ll spot few brain based opportunities alive at work. Then speak to staff in highly competitive and cutting edge firms. Do you notice brainpower aligned to profitability?
Few organizational goals get met without sustainable brainpower. Yet sadly, many people come to work daily with a mind to accomplish great goals, and then leave after constant distractions … with few goals reached.
Sustainable brainpower adds targets to win and opens spigots to profitability that most firms miss … through short-sighted, and expendable practices.
Have you seen it happen?

When I read: Boredom overwhelms far fewer people who begin their day with a brain based question … “What could I invent?” --- I thought of Peter Block's wonderful question in his book The Answer to How Is Yes.
Block says we ought to delay asking, "How are other people doing it successfully?"
Instead he recommends we ask, "What do we want to create together?"
Thanks for getting my mind to race.
Keep creating...a brand worth raving about,
Mike
