If you've felt your brain drifting off like bubbles in the wind ... you'll be interested in a new study that shows why it happens.
A post yesterday by Julie Steenhuysen at Reuters ... which pointed out why brains shut down at work ... intrigued me. New studies by David Dinges ... from the University of Pennsylvania – School of Medicine show surprising facts about sleep deprived brains.
rsearch concluded that ... quite unaware ... tired people tend to shift back and forth between alertness and dramatic lapses of attention and visual processing.![]()
Can you spot potential problems here?
Here's the skinny:
1. Lack of sleep leads to depression more than people realize.
2. Your brain rewires for work while you sleep.
3. Sleep deprivation creates disasters at work … that can be deadly.
4. Help exists for people who lack sleep … or who sleep poorly.
5. Sleepy equals cranky … so look out!
Have you planned enough shut eye tonight? If you’ve been getting far too little sleep … or feel your brain zone out at times during your working day – take heart.
Recent research at Harvard also shows that to the surprise of many … people can pay back a debt to sleep. How so? To repay short term deficits of sleep missed during any week – it's advised to sleep in on weekends. Both days!
What do you think? I plan to sleep on it …. You?

I've had people make fun of me because I am so adamant about getting enough sleep. I can't function when I don't get enough sleep of course that means I'm less productive. I've done a few studies on sleep deprivation and found that it's similar to being drunk and just as dangerous in many situations.
