Change moods whenever sadness strikes and holds you down. Your brain will do the rest! How so?
Do something different ... and you'll move your mind beyond the ruts of grief before you slide over its edge into depression. If you are sitting stand and walk. If you are inside step out into nature. If you are reading – build … or walk … or make tea. The brain moves its waves from sad to sadisfied faster ... when you alter activities.
Change mental pathways when boredom drags you down. Did you know t
hat researchers now show boredom as a choice rather than a circumstance?
Change conversations when you find yourself or others venting. Risk solving the problem at hand, and keep track of your solutions until you sense your best contribution is in.
Change relationships when negatives linger. Run from negatives or cynicism that robs talent … and shuts out creative responses to life.
Change circular arguments or debates that insult or exclude others. Try tone to the finish line … and watch your brain point you to success as fast as chemeleons change color.
Change spending habits when bills mount or saving shrink. Open the spigots to profits by creating new revenue streams to your top talents.
To change directions in these situations is to rewire the brain for building new neuron pathways toward growth and lasting success. Want a neuron adjustment? While most people merely think about it … the brain literally reboots when we change and do things differently.
What could you change today to ratchet up new opportunities?

Nice post, Ellen. Reminds me of the definition of "insanity" as "Continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results."
