Some say ineffective universities are the reason 40% drop out of college. Do you agree?
Have universities lost their relevancy to life and learning beyond class … I’m speaking of the life their students face daily.
Researchers suggest that universities could regain their prominence in a c
hanging world … if it changed the teaching to fit the way people learn. What do you say?
Science is shedding light on how adults retain ideas … and how they can turn that knowledge into practical use in the workplace. Do you see it happening?
By applying key neuroscience discoveries and supporting faculty to use related tools … research can help change the way universities operate.
We know from research that lectures work against the human brain. It’s because working memory can only hold small bits of information … and because retention comes when we do something with that information … in order to move it from the brain’s short term memory into the basal ganglia where long term facts and habits are stored. Brains require workouts to learn and grow ... while lectures foster a coach potato mentality.
That’s why in my recent books MI Strategies in the Classroom and Beyond I lay out dozens of teaching tactics and strategies also and in Student Assessment that Works, I suggest ways to create intelligence-fair assessments.
How do you learn in ways that improve your performance you work?

Many young graduates from highschool have no clear idea what College Education to take. What profession that will give you financial opportunity to survive at least reaching the years of retirement. Many students are taking up Nursing , hoping for employment and better pay. The problem is many do not have the patience and the love for caring sick people. After all the high cost of education, many end up jobless and prefer to stay at home. The real world do not offer an easy job.
After all the challenge and hard study in college, it does not offer a 100% success to all who finish college. Proper screening for student choosing a profession that is in harmony with his attitude is neglected. Many university accepts students on the basis of having more enrollees. More income for the school but not producing good quality education. Education becomes a fast food center. The school is in a hurry to finish their education. The students are like an end product produced from a machine. Education becomes like a machine.
