Drugs for Smarter Faster Workforces

If you’ve ever sensed an urgent need to grow smarter… more alert … or better skilled to face tough challenges at work … it could be that you are competing with peers who pop drugs daily to enhance their brains.

Interestingly …  The New York Times just raised ethical questions about fast increasing brain enhancements that give users an intellectual edge.brain_electricity.jpg

Perhaps you read the recent admission in the journal Nature where two  Cambridge University researchers told how a dozen or so colleagues used Adderall regularly as a stimulant during their days … and to remain more awakened … and to improve their academic performance … many took Provigil.

Due to the raging debates the journal Nature recently created a more extensive survey on the topic of non-medical drug use … that helps people climb up career ladders faster and smarter.

Some people feel this trend is a harbinger of the next frontier in a culture that demands more intelligence in less time for higher performances.

Others claim regular use of brain enhancement drugs are not only dangerous … but also highly unethical … when drugs give unfair advantages to a few.

What do you say?

How do these people get these prescriptions? Seems like the ethics extends beyond the users somehow!

Robyn, I think several drug companies are making these medications available without presciptions. You build a good case for ethics that can get compromised for greed. Thanks for tossing that angle into the mix.

Even without drugs that awaken - we'll all want to remain more alert as this movement progresses - to ensure that ethics remain forefront. It's one of the advantages of discussions with other thoughtful people on the blogosphere. Do you agree?
