As weapons mount to nab undocumented workers … so does anger seem to grow toward those who simply differ. Have you seen it? ![]()
I'm not making a case for ignoring workers in violation of immigration laws. My concern comes more from a tendency to diminish people simply because they differ. Let's look past the problems to find wiser solutions.
Constantly we read of employer crackdown from US Immigration concerns. Yet … where are opposite messages that teach and inspire people to embrace unique mental offerings where we work?
If you are fortunate enough to work at a firm that values innovation, you’ve likely noticed a wider mix of intelligences that ratchet up the bottom line.
Since human brains wire and rewire creatively … based on what we do … let’s look beyond undocumented workers. Let’s capitalize on mutual benefits and innovation … from valid differences that come to work.
That way we won't confuse illegal immigration ... with exclusion or downright bias at work. It's a simple shift away from a crackdown on differences ... toward seeing cultures as currency.
