Participants were asked to imagine they were doctors, and asked to identify diseases based on images from fictitious blood samples. Yikes -- can you imagine a group of fake doctors looking at a bunch of fake blood samples? A perfect recipe for slips and blunders. What did it show?
Interestingly, the brain reacted to previous slip-ups with an identifiable warning signal. Experts expressed surprise at its speed - warnings appeared only one-tenth of a second later. How could this improve your decisions?
