Dr. Weber, are you suggesting that we ignore this situation at Columbia (which is not an isolated event)? Or are you saying that those who continue to use symbols like this are further poisoning our with toxicity? If the latter is true, I would agree that we need more positive symbolism rather than negative. However, as a society we do need to address the issues of racism that seem to be bubbling to the surface and perpetuating hatred amongst our own citizens.
