Halloween Stokes Human Brains

As  Halloween approaches, even the most sedate workplaces …  scheme to trick human brains with phantom spirits and ghoul-like-banshees. But what’s the mental attraction?

You may be surprised to see several ways that trickery weaves its intrigue through dendrite brain cells …  so that we dash back for more. halloweenparty6.jpg

From creatively carved pumpkins ... to ghost stories ... to creepy costumes for workplace haunts ... to organ-eating vampires,  the brain rewires to believe in and validate what we do.

How does it work?

About mid-October … people turn to Halloween's ancient origins, pumpkin pies and superstitions …  in ways that coax witches, bats and vampires into realms of mental possibilities. And so while it’s all fantasy on one level … it also more ….

Interestingly, there’re some realities behind vampire myths that electrified stories such as Bran Stoker’s 1897 novel,  Dracula, and other ghost stories. According to vampire expert Noreen Dressler, who wrote American Vampires, truth about horrors depicted in death and disease …  is often more compelling than Halloween lore. Your brain’s onboard for both!

Check out Halloween superstitions, that stoke Halloween pranks and see how brains too ... can shroud realities by stoking superstitions. Do you believe it?

Fact is, the human brain revels in superstition – whenever you …

1. Look for meaning when evidence is simply not there.
2. Associate luck with actions such as glancing at the moon over your left shoulder.
3. Believe in spells, charms or dreams that alter reality.
4. Explain one mystery by calling on another for final proof.
5. Act on beliefs such as unlucky Fridays … or avoid unlucky 13s.

You've likely also seen those thin threads that separate Halloween superstition from science and spirituality. How so? While it’s true that scientific statements such as …  mind controls matter are superstitions to others … it’s also true that faith is the evidence of things unseen … to dedicated believers.

On Halloween though, the brain wires for sheer horror, trickery, and intrigue, based on tricks or treats you fantasize.  What Halloween bombshell could boost spirits where you work?
