Cool Right - Left Brain Quiz

Highly successful people develop and use their multiple intelligence strengths to benefit business at work. And while we each bring a unique mix of intelligences, we now know that with motivation and practice – people can develop strengths in each of at least eight intelligences brought into the workplace.

What intelligences shine more for you? right_brain_left_brain.jpg

In spite of their intellectual mix … some people tend to operate most from the logical or linear left side of their brain … while others lead with their artistic or whole picture right side. How about you?

A brief test may surprise you … as a dancer spins … to show your dominant thinking type with new evidence.

Check Australia’s Herald Sun quiz – to catch an  interesting glance at which side of your brain holds business strengths. Does your right or left brain offer you leadership tools for problem solving and decision making where you work?

Before you step away from the dancing figure in this quiz … though …try to change sides – and create a new direction – as the guide suggests?  Can you do it?

Ellen, this is a fantastic test... I've never seen anything like it and it's absolutely fun. Here's my results. I wanted for about a minute with my eyes fixed on the dancer and she was spinning clockwise. Then all of a sudden, she shifted and started going counter clockwise. The more I watched the more versatile she got and I saw her switch several times. Don't know exactly what it means except that maybe the whole thing led me to creative imagining which required both sides of my brain. Thoughts?

Robyn, that so surprises me because she is twirling clockwise for me -- and no coaxing will get her going the other way. Now I am compelled to try again! No wonder they say that all brains are wired differently! Just one more proof! It will be fun to see how others score:-)

Hello Ellen,

I agree with Robyn - I've never seen anything like this. And I agree with you - it is cool!

When the article came up, my eyes went right to the image, and the woman was spinning clockwise. I then went to the article text, which began just left of the image, and noticed that the woman began spinning counter-clockwise.

As I experimented with that, for a while, every time I looked directly at the image, or to the right of it, she spun clockwise, but if I looked away from it to any direction other than to the right, she spun counter-clockwise.

After a bit, when I saw her spinning counterclockwise, I chould shift my view from peripheral to direct and she would maintain the counter-clockwise spin.

It would be very interesting to learn more about the science behind this, and about what it all suggests.

Thanks for a terrific post!

Ellen - this is so cool! I had similar experiences as well. I would see her spin one way and then if I looked away she'd spin the other. After watching her for a while she then seemed to change direction when I didn't even look away. It was weird. I couldn't make her change - but she just kept going one way and then the other!!!!

Hi Jim and Ann,

Ok -- you have my own dendrites popping again on this one now! In fact, Robyn suggested to me that I should take another look at all these unique reactions and create a future post down the road a bit -- to explain these cool reactions!

Now that is a brain based plan that intrigues me. Thanks for speading the wonder about this one, you brainy people!

Ellen, I noticed that she changed direction when I moved the focus of my eys from her torso spinning to what she was doing with her feet. That is when directions shifted for me. Thought I'd add my tidbit since it's a trifle different than Jim's.

Hello Ellen:

I saw this on another blog and thought of you. My mind is stuck on seeing it clockwise. When I turn away sharply and look at again, I'm able see it turning anti-clockwise for a very short period of time. I look forward to your follow up article.

Ellen,

I stared at her without turning away. She started off clockwise, the about 15 seconds later began turning counter-clockwise, then 15 seconds later clockwise...

Tried it again a few minutes later with the same results. Not sure of the conclusions that are drawn from this particular exercise but, interestingly, psychological assessments that I've done consistently show that my linear and intuitive/artistic inclinations are about equal.

Can't wait to see how you follow up with this one.
