Hybrid Teams Bring Higher Profits

Are you a hybrid team player? Let me explain….

The other day I golfed with Robyn McMaster, senior VP here at the Callaway.bmpMITA Center and Rob Jacobi – the guy who keeps our computers running. Just as we hit rough terrain on the challenging course, Rob pulled out a new hybrid – and slammed a ball effortlessly to the green. I saw amazing capability in this crossbreed club between my woods and my irons.

The next day I pulled into Dicks’ Sporting Goods … before they opened and waited for my chance to own a Callaway hybrid #3 golf club.

No question ... it’s already one of the finest tools in my golf bag.  Game after game ... it digs my wayward ball out of the rough ... and steers it back toward the fairway for a better shot to the green.

This golf wonderclub  reminds me that I too am becoming more of a hybrid team player lately in my brain based business. Why so?

For years I heard clients who lead business enterprises … complain that leaders in colleges don’t get it.  According to many business leaders, higher education leaders are disorganized and know little about revenue streams. Have you found that?

Not surprisingly, the opposite is also true. Administrators in college level learning … claim that business heads lack core skills for research or learning – so they rarely remain current in their fields. Is it true where you work?

As I see it … neither education or business has it all… and both bring unique angles – just like my new Callaway hybrid brings a better lift to the links.

Hybrid team building approaches – work especially well in cutting edge firms I work with,  where we  find a more amazing mix of crossbreed capabilities from  business and higher education leaders. Do you see profitable links? Take a look at alliances that formed in your area lately … between leaders who generate revenue streams ... and those who lead research or higher education ... and you’ll likely also find a profitable pulse.

Modern  workplaces tend to empower successful teams … where fusion is needed to help people cross fields… mix skills … and lead from diverse angles.

A hybrid team player can guide entire teams to dig business and higher education deals out of the rough … for a better shot to the green. Care to survey your hybrid team building skills? How do you bring people together in profitable ways?
