The Ultimate Guide to Help People Reach a Target



What distinguishes people who reach exquisite targets and seem to climb from peak to peak past most of their peers?

First,  successful achievers seem far less concerned with what they lack and more focused on talent not yet developed. Because of their emphasis on mobility - less brainpower is lost to critiques. I know that I tend to hit more goals when I focus on the talent that can take me there – rather than on resources that could hold me back.

When the human brain sends laser beam concentration to any target or vision - you increase your chances for successfully getting there. You also tend to avoid the distractions that leave many people  short of their targets. How so?

Start with a pro-active plan.

One way I proactively try to improve conferences on the brain – for instance - is to set the tone for engagement so that people can try out and play with new ideas in ways that show benefits to their workplaces.

Prepare to counter the forces that will work against your plan.

I do this in MITA brain conferences by disarming cynics through showing participants what cynicism does to destroy the brain and workplace progress. More importantly, I offer brain based tools to engage in deeper ways – tactics that get lost when cynics take over.

I used to get distracted in conferences, when people pushed in with insincere questions that appeared more to impress their supervisor than to toss around creative ideas for shared solutions. That brings me to my last suggestion.

Remain ruthless to show how research can impact reality

I show how new neuron pathways lead to lasting change and growth. Regularly show the evidence in data and at the same time facilitate people to try out the ideas in action plans that benefit their growth in real world settings.

Offer a suggested plan – and encourage people to place time limits for each step. Leave behind any key links to the research they’ll need – encourage creativity from their own expertise and offer to check back and tour the results at an agreed upon time.

Oh – and one last consideration … Make sure that people can find the resources and ongoing motivation they need to focus more of their target than the cynics who slow down progress or the perceived lack of resources that tend to prevent people from reaching their targets successfully.

Once you guide people this far – their own motivation tends to spill into the mix to keep them moving up – so you can step aside and begin to focus on your next mind-bending target.
