10 Surefire Ways to Dumb Down an American Workplace

People increasingly claim we blow out candles daily - while biotech and research oriented nations leave us in the dark lately. Hopefully it's not so. I say it's more about dumbing down a  workplace. What do you say?

Here are 10 Surefire Ways I see to Dumb Down any American Workplace …

1. Ignore future directions the winning workforces take and stick to practices that worked well when you were hired.

2. Criticize a person who spells poorly  … far more than you value the fact that same person can rebuild your entire computer system in a day.

3. Impress younger workers with your generation’s wizardry and wisdom … but don’t listen to stories about how they are smarter in unique contemporary ways.

4. Present yourself as an expert and let people know that IQs are fixed – traditions rock - and today’s workers are mostly undereducated.

5. Snub people who differ from you… and protect positions of leadership – as you prove how ludicrous is the idea of different kinds of leaders.

6. Rant about today’s epidemic of ignorance, and insist your own education and experiences rule.

7. Never build caring communities, and don’t waste time on team consensus, or shared responsibility – just stick to one dictator who calls the shots.

8. Scrap any focus for cultural contributions, environmentalism, or gender equity – instead concentrate on people who look, talk and act just like you.

9. Throw out staff development in favor of buying more property, or hiring more workers like you - and ratchet up your firm’s profit.

10. Ban humor, chuck talents, and vent about the lazy, ignorant louts you work with - whenever you find any set of ears who’ll listen up.

Oh yes … one more thing - do make sure to add how we’re dumbing down the American workplace – so those nations racing to more competitive flow-edges --can find advantages and win. Or could we turn intelligence around before the lights go out…?
