Regardless of the events you enjoyed or suffered through yesterday – each new day raises fresh opportunities well beyond most people’s expectations. The rested brain is more than ready to take advantage of benefits than most people realize. From the moment a person sets off to another workday your brain works in your favor. How so? ![]()
Let’s say you get a call on the car phone … The auditory cortex activates to take in the question asked - after which your frontal cortex processes the question in relation to what you already know in order to help you make an informed response.
Say the person asks you to pick up copies of a whitepaper at another firm on the way to work. Can you see how the new information is processed together with a previous experiences? You already possess some notion of whitepaper, a mental map the other firm’s location, as well as a unique tactic you might use to approach the people there with your request. The key is more brainpower is to weave what you know with with you want to learn or achieve. It's reall quite straightforward....
Your motor cortex jumps into the action also … since you will want to process movement in order to get there. Exchanges with others and with new ideas literally rewires your brain in ways that reinforce what you do and how you’ll go about landing deals.
What can you do to rachet up brainpower on route to work?
1. Listen to a favorite CD in the car or while you prepare for work, and check out the brainpower in music as it adds value to your day.
2. Come up with one or two funny lines to tell a colleague at work before noon.
3. Plan to take one risk toward a target you hope to hit within the week.
Do you see a new zip to your day – by moving your brain in any of these three directions? What do you think?

I do see how music, risk and laughter can really help the day go well. For me music is an integral part of my day, especially as I work.
