Ireland's Solution Could Double US Minimum Wage

Is the low minimum wage directly related to wars waged in Iraq and expensive battles in other areas?

Ireland saw such a link and doubled their bottom wage by creating peace plans. During my recent work over there, Irish leaders told me often that it works ... and they have no desire to look back through the barrel of guns. The US?

Today's slight increase does little for the person who cannot afford rent or food for a family of two. There's a bigger question we should be asking....

Is the low minimum wage related to costly US wars?  The slight minimum wage increase is actually the first in 10 years, according to CNNMoney.comOprah.jpg

There appears to be direct relationships between mega monies poured into military efforts – and much tighter public purse strings.

Check out the states here which offer higher wages and those who no minimum wage law.

What do you see as a way past the low US wages that draw criticism from many other countries. Ireland’s minimum wage nearly doubles our and the nation is one of the richest in Europe.

Ten years ago, they decided that peace – not war – could bring financial prosperity – and it worked. In the late 1990’s Ireland focused on two goals peace and prosperity, according to Irish Ambassador… H.E. Sean O’Huiginn.

Simply put – Ireland recognized their role to strike out for prosperity through peace, and in so doing, they became a global model for both. It could mean more money in people’s pockets as well as the opposite of today’s news which tell us how many people died at our hands.

If the minimum wage is tied more to war than we think my question is … How can we rekindle the Patriot Dream? Do you see any connections or solutions that would  help more people support their families – through a fair wage?

I am sorry but I think the person who wrote this forgot the two most important factors that have contributed to Ireland´s growth. Massive European Union funding - without this (Southern) Ireland would be struggling economically. Ireland´s tax laws are undercutting those of other European countries so large corporates are directing their revenue through the Ireland to reduce their tax burden but starving their own countries of fiscal funding. Ergo a German corporation, produces in Germany, but "sells" out of Ireland - revenue not subject to German tax but Irish. Peace has probably had a greater impact on the Northern Irish economy which took a hammering during the troubles. As for a minimum wage IMHO the single action that will help maintain your economy and therefore your jobs is to buy locally - ergo buy products produced in the USA. It was the boycott of South African products etc that bought down apartheid - voting with one´s purse works - Mandela proved it!
