Thanks to Roger Anderson’s invitation to tell 8 random things about me, I’ve taken the liberty to share my deepest concerns for business at the moment. I’m particularly grateful for the chance to step back and lay out what’s been bothering me lately – and hopefully you have suggestions or responses - I may have missed.
Of course – any who know my brain based tactics know that when a problem is raised … some shot at a solution should follow. ![]()
My suggestions here segue into solutions that come in the form of questions for your consideration, answers and discussion. These days … I’m deeply concerned about …
1. Leadership - Bush and Clinton scrap over who pardons criminals most unfairly. My question – How can we lead without excusing wrongdoing – based on another guy’s worse wrongdoing?
2. Finances - The shocking costs of war and neglected thought about peace plans as a prelude to freedom. My question – What would it take to learn from leaders in Ireland who built prosperity through peace?
3. Sustainability - Gas guzzlers and excessive energy, consume far more than our share. How can we give more, embrace people and learn generosity from giving people in and beyond our national borders?
4. Transportation - Airports and airlines have lost their zest for serving people, and seem to have given up excellence in their trade. Could the airlines ever win back trust from you or me?
5. Communication Violence and abuse grow, while strong communities seem to shrink - as people turn to violent videos, arrogant speech and blame for what goes wrong. How could tone turn disagreements into growth?
6. Well being Foods seem fattier and exercise opportunities hard to reach within our busy schedules. What foods would it take to recharge our brains for healthier lives?
7. Bureaucracies such as learning institutes appear to protect personnel positions more than to facilitate a lofty vision. Where could personal renewal begin to ripple to renew even one bureaucracy?
8. Healthcare wastes dollars, and then charges some people more than what seems fair – while passing over poor people when they most need help. What healthcare system would genuinely serve the medical needs of the American people?
There ... I laid out 8 current concerns that have me wracking my brain for a response. If you have any solutions I'm missing - that would help us in these areas – do share your thoughts….
Your turn.

Doc,
My question is this:
Why is it OK for a person to be rude to me (cut in line, talk loudly in a movie, curse in earshot of my kids) but it is not OK for me to speak up about it?
Either the rude person reacts in anger instead of remorse or the crowd takes that person's side? I could see being in the wrong if I was rude in my request for that person to cease but if I try very hard to answer anger with politeness. I am not one to back down but I am always open to an apology.
