Choose Your Legacy by How You Lead

If you were to choose one line to be written on your gravestone to show your leadership – how would that line read?

Hannah Congdon's legacy reads … “Offer less fortunate people of the world a better life,”  and that described her brief life.

Hannah, along with her four beloved friends Bailey Goodman, Meredith McClure, Sara Monnat, and Katie Shirley died together a few days after they graduated from Fairport High School near the MITA International Brain Based Center where I work. Hannah%20Congdon.jpgNo alcohol... no drugs ... just five young leader friends - gone in an instant.

Dr. Bill Cala one of the most effective and caring leaders in North America, wrote ...

"Hannah Congdon traveled with us to India in April of 2006 to help tsunami orphans. She laughed and walked with us on May 12, 2007 in a Walk for African Orphans at Perinton Park in Fairport, New York. Hannah and her dear friends touched all our lives as described in an essay published in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle from July 1, 2007 titled: “School chief’s role model is 18-year-old.”

Check out the video to see how Hannah lead through giving her fine talents to build a better world.  See how she inspired new hope in people for whom she cared! The result?

A new orphanage is curently being built in Africa through the Joining Hearts and Hands Project because of Hannah's leadership legacy.

It’s cause to sit back and ponder… If your leadership legacy were written in one line today – what would it say to those you leave behind?

Ellen, Dr. Bill Cala is the leader who energized Hannah and opened the window for her to go to Afica. He wanted to do more for the people their because poverty and lack of schools prevented their hope.

It is Bill Cala's kind of sacrificial and visionary leadership that opens windows for teens like Hanna to make a difference for others.

You'll remember in interviews here Bill identified burearcracies as the key impediment to visionary learning and leading, Robyn. Now he is again putting feet to the best in learning theories - here in Rochester. The result?

Intelligent learners are developing their real intelligence through care and competency that now guides it to happen in this city.

We wish him the best, because Rochester needs this vision - with feet for learners and leaders!

So sad to learn of the 4 young deaths, the community will remember this for a long time.A lot of good was done in a short time on earth. It sounds like a car crash, I was lucky to survive a bar one when I was 19.

Jim. this os one of the most amazing teams we'll meet -- and so are you! Thanks for stopping by!
