
A heart story – with wings for the mind - it’s been called Top 10 Film of the Year.

PBS described it as Mark Bittner’s search for meaning in life, unaware that the green and red birds would bring him everything he seeks.
This film illustrates the human brain’s natural mix of heart and mind… when we don’t separate the two. Mark Bittner searched and failed to fit his talents into a society that seemed to be moving along another pathway from where he stood.
To mix ideas from the heart – with concepts of the mind - gets more zip from both in business. Yet it often surprises me to see people wrestle emotions out of leadership. It’s just as surprising when discussions come more from moods than from reason.
Brain based research increasingly shows how mind and emotions mix.…
For starters … we each possess at least 8 distinctive intelligences and none is pre-eminent over others. Simply put, for instance … intrapersonal intelligence is just as powerful to the mind –with all its emotional discoveries – as is mathematical intelligence with its numeric proofs. Mixed naturally in the human brain – mind and heart rarely come together at the top in business.
One problem keeps the ebb of heart from its flow in mind though. We have yet to act on
Oh – and did I already say the film had a surprise ending? So will your business meet surprise results - when you risk the interplay of heart into things traditionally relocated to the mind and visa versa.
It's a large leap - and current brain research is leading the way to wonderful new opportunities to lead with heart and mind in balance. Life looks different with this mental mix - at least it did to Mark. Think it would look different where you work?
