Lingering Lessons From SOBCon 07

It’s good to get together in ways that teach, inspire and weave a common thread.

The SOBCon did just that from all we heard, and so I looked for parts to share.

At the time,  I was traveling with the brain based work … so I depended on the lessons that came from bloggers like Drew McLellan., who captured cores of SOBCon for those of us who could not attend.  How so? Drew%20McLellan.gif

The lessons Drew spotlighted here below - brought the SOBCon just a bit closer to all our screens - and helped us appreciate blogging unities we’ve built.

1. You can't fake who you are when you put yourself out there, online, every day.  There was not one person I met who surprised me.  You were all exactly as I expected.

2. Bloggers are huggers.  Even business bloggers.

3. No matter how great the speakers are -- people are hungry to learn from and interact with each other.

4. We truly are living in, as CK calls it, the share economy.  The generosity was boundless.

5. There's no substitute for sharing a laugh with friends in person.

In Drew’s words … “Nothing profound or new.  However, that makes it none the less valuable.” I agree.

To continue Drew’s theme of giving...here's a link to SOBCon bloggers by way of thanks to SOBcon2007 Chicago Attendees:

Nice.

I'd just like to remind those that haven't linked out that the text file is still available for you to copy.

David -- what a cool addition you brought - and I for one did not know that. I'll check it out.

David - for some reason this link doesn't work. Is it broken at your end? Thanks again for sharing it here.

Aren't you generous in both thoughts and deeds!! Thank you. I'm so smiling. :)

Thanks for spotlighting this wonderful event Ellen. I look forward to you joining us next year!

Ellen,

The good news is -- they're going to do it again next year so we can all enjoy old and new lessons together.

And we will all be better for it if you can join us next year. I look forward to sharing a story and a hug with you in '08.

Drew

Thanks Liz, it seems a distant second best to being there -- but I was glad to see how folks like you and Drew shared the gems!

Thanks Phil, how ecxiting that so many of the community were able to spring free for the event. Since I am often outside the country, I tend to be booked many months in advance. At times I am freer though - and it is a good thing we all love our work when it carries us away/. What a great chance to value the bloggers in our community!

Thanks Drew -- you certainly advertised well for the 08 version. Great lessons and as you say - more great ones to come.

Thanks Ellen! My big takeaway was how much creative and supportive strength can be generated by a roomful of like-minded, kind, open and positive individuals who like to put their thoughts on a blog! Blew me away. My other hope is that you make it next year! All the best.

Terry -- your comment reminds me of the power and effects of snowballing blogs such as this community's! I would also love to see this grow stronger through means such as SOBCon -- as well as the unique honor of meeting longtime blogging friends like you! Thanks for stopping by to inspire us all!
