100 Scorching Words of a Hebbian Hobo

Words of  Hebbian learners vary from setting to setting when asked to change or improve. Yet their responses seem strikingly similar to …

I can’t … I won’t… others won’t support me… it won’t work … later maybe … there are no resources … it has yet to be proven … it’s not yet known well enough … it’s too much trouble … others won’t get it … we do it differently here … there’s no time … why bother … it’s too hard … risks are not rewarded here … I’m going to retire soon … I already have tenure … I might not get tenure if I do it … I already do all that stuff … others don’t  do it – why should I?

Ugh - don't those words make you want to scream!

(How about "if it ain't broke don't fix it"?)

Dear
Your webs are the best on Appled psychology.
Thank you so much.

Oh Ann, you really hit this one head on! YES! It usally is busted long before it gets fixed -- if it does at all. The Hebbian learner cannot see the breaks - and so that statement is common:-) Thanks for your refreshing sense of change, Ann, that leads to wonderful new ways!

Many thanks Kampechara for stopping by and for your kind words - which were great to see on the road in Europe - and reminded me it will be fun to get back home again soon:-)
