To build community at work, takes more brains and less cultural concern, than most realize. In fact the best opportunities to build goodwill and success come when problems arise. Do you agree?
For example….
Say you have a problem arise because your organization is losing ability to pay staff benefits.
Question employees:
How could organizational growth increase employee benefits in your department?
Target suggestions from culturally mixed groups this way:
1. Offer a $50 reward to teams who produce a doable plan for the organization
2. Suggest a step-by-step procedure for implementing the winning plan
3. Highlight the best performances that come from implementing your winning plan
Do you see how brains become a more important emphasis, than cultural differences?
Why not move past the differences that make groups unique – to highlight similar visions that unite people. Survey people to capitalize on their multiple intelligences … and we begin to recognize genuine value in diverse cultures.
This brain based approach will increase highly intelligent responses from many groups – and it will provide a rejuvenated model for how we can work together in ways that benefit more.
What do you think?
