
My African violet reminds me daily that to nurture differences is often to bring out the best in beauty. Other plants draw water from the top of their soil, but this plant craves water deposited into a water section below its roots. That way the plant drinks water at its own pace as long as the water is stored below.
Daily that miracle plant reminds me how human brains flower more when nurtured differently. Did you know – for instance – that the human brain rewires
nightly as you sleep? Or are you aware that the world around you shapes how your brain develops in unique ways? It makes sense then .. to facilitate unique talent in people with room for differences. But how?

We are about to create together the human resources manual for this camp and I have an idea to draw on more of the unique talents of every committee member, based on my African violet’s ability to bloom differently.
What will you do today in a unique way because your brain rewired again throughout the night? Look to my violet to see how it turns out when we nurture differences, and expect results. People tell me they have never seen an African violet take off like this, and I like to remind them I bought it for a buck three years ago. It was the size of teacup at that time.
