When Yahoo News listed 10 best April Fool’s hoaxes and gave us all a chance to stop and laugh. They were all judged by the San Diego-based Museum of Hoaxes “for their notoriety, absurdity, and number of people duped.”

2. Sports Illustrated in 1985 claimed that a rookie baseball pitcher who could reportedly throw a ball at 270 kilometers per hour (168 miles per hour) was set to join the New York Mets.

3. Sweden in 1962 announced people could now convert their black and white TVs into color pictures by ”pulling a nylon stocking over the screen.”

4. Taco-Bell in 1996 announced it bought Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell.

5. The Guardian Newspaper published a 7 page ad for the 10^th anniversary of the tiny San Sherriffe.

6. NPR in 1992 stated that Richard Nixon was running again for president.

7. A Newslesster titled “New Mexicans for Science and Reason, in 1998 - carried an article that the state of Alabama had voted to change the value of pi from 3.14159 to the "Biblical value" of 3.0.”

8. Burger King in 1998 took out an ad to illustrate the “Left-Handed Whooper” designed for left handed Americans

9. Discover Magazine in 1995 said that a highly respected biologist discovered the hotheaded naked ice borer.

10. Astronomer Pat Moore in 1995, said Pluto would pass behind Jupiter, and reduce the earth’s gravity.
