Want to see how flexible your brain is – and how the plasticity is fixed to rewire for new approaches?
Here’s a mind game – called the Stroop Test, which indicates the flexibility of your frontal lobes.
Even though the test appears easy, scientists draw on this test to measure the human brain’s ability to override set behaviors – with a newer
approach.
Your reaction time will show your brain’s executive function – or indicate the flexibility of your higher reasoning intelligence.
In the Stroop test located here, you’ll say the color of a word – rather than what the word says. The name of the game is to move fast. When you complete all the words, simply click the finish button. Your completion time will appear.
How flexible did your brain measure? You can continue the experiment by clicking on “continue experiment,” to see more about your brain’s ability to learn new skills.
Compare your time with average times recorded by age:
Age 20 – 59 averages 55 seconds
Age 60 – 74 averages 71 seconds
Over 75 years averages 78 seconds
How’d you do?

I love this test!! I play this on my son's Nintendo ds - it's part of a game called Brain Age and it's a blast. It's amazing how good you can get when you do this regularly (which is hopeful for those of us that are aging faster than we'd like!).
