The crack of dawn conversation on NPR this morning reminded me of three intelligent tactics that marked John Wooden as the most successful coach in basketball.
1. Don’t come late
2. Don’t curse
3. Don’t criticize![]()
Even at the age of 96 now this popular coach’s brain appears as much alive than the era that saw him in a winner’s circle. What do you think these three would do to spark goodwill and spike creativity where you work?
Because he believed in others, believed in talent and believed in winning – he told the players not to look at him during a game – but instead to use the same talent he’s developed all that week with them.
No wonder Wooden’s team at UCLA won the national championship in 10 out of 12 attempts. Check out his latest book … Inch and Miles … to see how he teaches kids to build character by decisions they make.
If you were to leave behind a kid’s book to pass on the top three moves of your mind – what would these tactics be? Mine are:
1. Change …
2. Laugh…
3. Care....
Your turn ….
