Stress Shrinks the Brain, and Shuts it Down

It’s much worse than they thought, but solutions work better than most realize.

It's stress, and new research found that it can literally shrink areas of gray matter in your brain, or even kill a person.  It also speeds aging and robs memory.

At work, stress  makes people fail to reverse,  “I can’t” expressions into, “I can” opportunities through increased serotonin and decreased cortisol for new adventures.
stressresponse.jpg
New research at the University of Leicester, found that opposite to popular belief, adversity makes its victims more vulnerable to suggestions and lies, and that stress creates more adversity. Good news is that stress can be reduced. It takes awareness of the problem first though.

Here are surefire signs that stress is likely shutting you down:

1. Your tone is negative or communication is panicked
2. Your expectations are unclear as are your questions to others who can help you
3. You do not see your talents or intelligence as adequate for the problem you face
4. Not much changes in your approaches, attitudes or results
5. You find yourself laughing less than usual
6. Music seems to have  lost its zest to inspire or stir up your enthusiasm.

Here are 5 tips that turn stress into solutions at work:

1. Look for and try at least one doable solution for each problem you identify.
2. List two targets in brief bullets - then tackle each in another step to success.
3. Practice using good tone to turn stress hormones into increased serotonin  chemicals for the power of a stress free mind.
4. Use a mind map to check out solutions one step at a time.
5. Do things differently! Try to solve your next problem – with the brain in mind.

You may be surprised to realize that we each get hit with about 22 stressors each day. Watch people at work today though, and you’ll spot  people who handle stressors without stress that pulls them down.

They’ll be the ones who respond to problems with good tone and who either reduce the harmful chemical cortisol, or who increased serotonin
and who can build goodwill – even with people who disagree.

Start your journey with these inspired words – written for those who choose to step beyond stress and toward a winning solution. I hope you Dance!
