
Over the past five year the United States has seen a startling rise in the number of people who suffer Alzheimer's disease. That's the result of a new study that just appeared on VOA News and appeared at Google News.
It's shocking to discover today that nearly 5 million American suffer this mental shutdown, which is a 10 percent increase over the last study of 5 years ago.
Most Alzheimer's victims are older than 65, and report early symptoms such as memory loss and confusion. The study reminds us of the serious consequences of this crippling disease...
"As the disease progresses and brain damage spreads, individuals need help with daily functions and eventually lose all ability to communicate. It is ultimately fatal."
Good news is that we are learning new ways to keep the brain fit and research shows increasing evidence that when we use more brainpower, in diverse ways, we can increase mental stamina for mind-bending health well beyond senior years.
