David Maister refers to Issue-Solving meetings and suggests that we have more of them. Do you agree?
David put it this way …”I still get calls to help with planning retreats and other kinds of meetings. Alas, it's still the norm to schedule a lot of speeches and force people into listening mode.”
Then he explained… “Worse, there really isn't much time planned for serious Q&A.”![]()
How often have you held back your ideas for an hour only to be told …”Oops, sorry … time ran out…”
Consider how firstly, the meetings David highlighted as ineffective actually work again the listener’s brains in ways we are only just discovering.
Secondly, the thing we do most in meetings actually kills the meeting!
Nuff said… What would do you do to bypass problems David raised about boring meetings?

Great funny...still chuckling to myself and my wife is wondering what's up.
Meetings in Japan are usually to announce what the outcome of all the haggling and mini-meetings have accomplished. In other words, decisions have already been made, the meetings is just a time to let everyone know what those decisions are.
Perhaps if meetings got something done rather than gave out homework...they'd be more welcome.
No?
