5 Tips to Reboot Brain Dead Committees

Somebody said ... If God had given Noah a committee to build the ark – we’d still be waiting for one.

I agree.

Worse ... gifted people sit idle or brain dead on endless committees for years while their vibrant talents atrophy, and opportunities for outcomes diminish.

Here are 5 tips to fuel a committee for high performance results:

1. Question to see what people do well and what roles they imagine.
2. Target to make ongoing improvements toward a shared goal
3. Expect quality outcomes aligned to a clear rubric which shows details
4. Move resources into action by linking people’s multiple intelligences to targets
5. Reflect after each meeting … “Where to from here?" .. and then set vibrant agenda for next session

Can you see a committee come alive, enjoy the journey and add more talent to the mix by this MITA approach to rejuvenating committee meetings?

It's based more on the talents and efforts of participants who otherwise sit idle with hidden or unused talents. Have you sat on committees?

Your turn .... What do you think?
