I Hope You Dance

After a session taught recently on MITA Brain Based Smart Skills, one participant said …  “This is what the leadership session did for us …” and handed me Lee Ann Womack’s inspired CD, “I Hope You Dance.”

Believe it or not, I’d not heard these inspired words until I played Womack’s CD later that day.

Do you plan to dance at any point today? This week?

Listen to the words and watch the dance at YouTube

In this course we’d asked the question:

How are you smart and what difference does it make today at work?

“When you get the choice to sit it out or dance – I hope you dance!

Ellen, I love this. I happen to be a dancer (especially if Rocky Top is playing). I notice that there is a shortage of dance partners these days. I think everyone's worried about image. I've noticed there are 2 types of non-dancers. The first is the type that wishes they had the ability to dance. They don't realize that they already have the ability, they just lack the confidence. The other type is oppressive. For whatever reason, they don't dance and they don't want anyone else to either. They try to intimidate the dancers by sneering, rolling eyes and commenting. They want to make them feel awkward and off-beat with the rest of the world. That just makes me more sure that I must be an awesome dancer. :)
