Social networks seem to have leapt out of nowhere, but they are huge and promise to get even bigger for those in their loop. Social networks have jumped onto blogs, for instance, and these exchanges are changing the way people communicate for mutual benefit and on global levels.
Interestingly, when it comes to networking, productivity is rarely an accident. As we interact with others and walk in and out of their worlds, new ideas and
approaches become internalized or mapped in our brain. Collective neuron sharing, in social networking is leading people increasingly in new directions and often with a focused effort for excellence. Not all networks are equal though.
While some people seem merely caught in the complex networks of mutuality, those who network well tend to find new solutions through self-education. Blogging is a great example of this. The best blogging exchanges create a system of interdependent components, that work together to achieve a common aim. Without that mutual aim, there is no network that can last.
Increasingly, the overhead of established networks is shrinking along with the public purse, and these new social networks are changing the way we communicate and work. Have you searched for interesting blog topics, or left comments at any blogs to contribute to key discussions lately? Do you bookmark your favorite blog topics?
Networks such as blogs, help people to deal with bureaucratic pressures, and to find new potential through others’ stories about what worked well. Communication across experiences with expects and fellow learners, can boost one’s morale for increased productivity. But how do you find the best networks in your field, and how can you steer away from those that tend to waste your time.
Here are a few smart skills that may help…
1. Choose blogs which appear inclusive, and you’ll find yourself communicating with experts in several fields. In contrast, blogs and other social networks that create circles of highly niched fields can lock out the best minds, or promote self-serving products or practices that leave us in dangerous places.
2. Check out the blogs you engage to see what listing Technorati assigns them as the best blogs will be rated in the top A-B-or C listings by this reliable data bank. Simply type, or copy and paste, any blog’s URL into the Technorati block here and hit submit to see that blog’s rank. You might wish to avoid blogs too far down in the ranks, because they are likely there for a reason.
3. Finally, expect to find amazing colleagues and friends in your field and in related fields that integrate new ideas into yours. Social network is here to stay – at least for those who see and enjoy its potential.
How do you network for productivity and what are you learning about that approach?

Happy New Year to the Brain Based Community. In 2006 at this blog, I learnt how to better cultivate my intrapersonal intelligence. I also experienced Ellen's (and others')good tone. This experience helped me to learn through imitation and refine some of my thinking and behaviour. I'm greateful for both lessons and I'm looking forward to learning and contibuting more. My new Emotional Intelligence weblog www.tuneupyoureq.com is now up and running. It would be great if you would stop by. I look forward to learning and sharing more information in this exciting social media landscape.
