When you create a target that inspires action, and passionately own the process, the human brain is conditioned to drive that plan to completion. But what about the person who finds it hard to finish anything on time? How about team members who focus on other parts of their lives and fall behind only to pass in half finished work in a whirlwind of fuss at the end?
the space between inception and completion is a mighty long road for the person who lacks pace and time management. To that person there never seems to be enough time. For some, work seems to expand to mock the time available to hand in their part. ![]()
Here are smart skills than can help develop your whole game to completion.
1. Create a separate calendar for each project. Briefly list in the calendar blocks, each date due and highlight specific parts to complete. Then under additional dates, add brief steps that will enable you to complete the work, in doable increments. Check the calendar daily, and watch your brain respond positively to this visual advanced organizer. You might even build a few fun rewards such as a dinner out, taking in a favorite sport with a friend, or just a few downtimes to relax and read, into the calendar as motivators. In order to optimize that benefits your brain derive from such an advanced organizer, do keep this calendar in front of your computer or in a place you frequent, until the project’s completion.
2. Explore unique incentives that would encourage timely, completion. Play with ideas that inspire you to keep rolling out the work, until you find a carrot to hang in front of your progress, so to speak. For instance, writer Edmund Whiler, completed more writing on time, when he read out loud to somebody, soon after he wrote his best pages.
What will inspire you to make it to the end of what you start in a timely manner? The good news is that every project completed on time, reboots the brain for coming in on or before schedule for the next round. Not a bad takeaway for the simple practice of simply getting through to the end ... before the clock runs out.
