How did you spend you time in the last few days? Thomas Edison reminds us…. Time is the only capital we have and the only thing we can’t afford to lose. Think of your time today as your capital – with wasted time the only thing you can’t recycle. Do you ever find yourself an hour late and a dollar short?
While time loss gets less press than wasted money, successful people squander it far less. Time management problems often come from flawed mental wiring and are quite easily turned around with a few smart skills that rewire and pace the brain for more wins. It’s often simply a case of turning good intentions into quality performances. Simple as that. Ignore deadlines today, for instance, and you’ll likely find yourself paralyzed by the same deadlines in a few days. ![]()
A growing body of research shows that stress shuts down the person who crams and works against the brain’s timely ability to perform at top turf. You’ve likely noticed that if you ignore time flaws … that fear or stress will not ignore you. On the other hand, if you rewire your brain for timely outcomes, you can being to lift yourself out of ruts that help you back, like a phoenix rises from ashes.
For some time is a winged chariot hurrying near, while for others let failures or fears of yesterday consume too much of today. Time management for me is far less an issue of waste or concern, since I work from daily targets. My brief checklist guides my day and allows me the satisfaction of tracking progress at motivational intervals.
The targets allow me to build in time to relax, have fun or take a colleague out for lunch. Keep targets with another person you respect and you’ll find reminders often when you forget to create your own guiding list for the day’s goals.
What time management smart skill would help you day move past good intentions, into the flow of time management. For Thomas Edison and other inventors there was time for everything, and that can be so for each of us. It's a matter of developing more logical mathematical intelligence which we all possess in unique mixes.
Time management simply affirms that fact, and shows where you’ll stand at the end of another good day. It also adds a view to new peaks for tomorrow’s winning climb. That’s because when you rewire the brain for time management you’ll find plenty left over for any person who’ll use it. Where to start?
If time is what you want most, and use worst, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi suggests a new pattern that adds new perspective for a start. Spend time today in the state of flow – that state where the happiest people get so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter. The experience itself is so enjoyable that people will do it even at a great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it.
