At some point the best in technological development will likely mesh with what you already know in many other fields. Einstein said it this way … “After a certain level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well.”
Do you agree?
Either way, it often appears that technology bullies its way into every other part of knowing, and in so doing it demands far too much time and effort to keep up. Einstein also claimed … “It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” Ok, maybe that is a better approach then throwing the screens out windows, when another client tells you the entire program you share is upgraded – again! ![]()
Einstein was right. You really have to stay with technology longer if you want to use the tools that change constantly and that can lead to frustration for people whose main fields of interest and experience are not in technology related careers.
Here are five smart skills that will help you to breeze through online changes …
1). Avoid panic and enjoy the process. Exchange panic words such as “stressed,” or “confused” with laughter…. Replace that overwhelmed sense by tackling one small step at a time. Relax… do bite-sized pieces… ease your way … and mistakes melt away in your mind.
2). Stay at the helm of your own techie learning. As you read materials…apply specific directions that support one new tactic at a time… Discuss your results in positive posts and ask other’s ideas. Stay and the helm by considering alternative ideas …. Share positive results and watch others cheer you on from the sidelines….
3). Support peers and build community. Respect people in your Online circles, and show good tone in each post. Use words that encourage… listen to ideas from the viewpoint of their authors… support… ask questions rather than add water-tight viewpoints… and then jump in to respond to others’ questions, regardless of who is asked.
4). Sport your talent at every turn. Show why your perspective might differ on a topic – don’t be shy. Risk using your multiple intelligences to help yourself and others apply fun ideas in your own unique ways to offset tech rigidity. Post stories about how you develop new skills and share how you continue to overcome challenges.
5). Organize ahead daily. Rather than excuses …which imply a lack of planning…work ahead and avoid schedule conflicts. Don’t just plan ahead… also post ahead … especially when you anticipate a busy work week. Time organization offers new neuron pathways for your brain to work in advance…and Online challenges tend to lend themselves to tools and tactics in advance….
Relax…Lead… Encourage… Risk…Organize …and oh yes…one more tip… Laugh…. Who was it who said….”People who laugh at themselves will always have the last laugh…?”
