Clear Targets Light New Paths

Targets keep you at the helm of your mental game, in much the same way a well lit runway keeps a pilot in charge during takeoff. Targets light your talents in ways that bring results you deserve.

If lives brain operate more effectively from targets we set, and if goals help us make better choices, the next question is obvious. How can we get more from targets? Did you know that targets root themselves into the brain’s neuron network system in two main ways.

First, we tend to target vital career choices- based on beliefs that we wire into our brains. Believe it or not,  beliefs are shaped primarily by what we do daily. That’s because the mind operates by building and rebuilding itself according to what a person does. Your actions actually rewire the brain’s plasticity. To consciously set clear targets is to transform your beliefs into successful performances.

Whether consciously or not, people build beliefs daily … based on their approaches to work. It’s not all positive or helpful either.  If the CFOs who count, scrimp and save money daily, for instance,  soon cheapskate becomes a target and that can rule out risks that would have grown the business. Only recently have researchers discovered and affirmed how flexible the brain is to reshape by targets we set.

In response to what people do, the brain creates dendrite brain cell connectors, for example,  and that’s how new neuron pathways gradually appear to guide the cheapskate.

What smart skills have you planned for today? Can you name one precise target that shows a value you hold dear, based on what you prioritize and do?

Second, targets for successful workers tend to be clearly laid out at the start of every day, through a bulleted list perhaps. More successful people tend to follow and track targets regularly for ongoing progress. It’s as simply as jotting down a few priorities over coffee in the morning. Then check your list of 5 things you’ll do that day, so each item is completed.

Over night, your brain rewires itself and reshapes connectors, so that you end up with more gray matter in the areas of your targets, and less in the areas that worked against them. Do targets sound worth a try?
