Flexible Enough to Take a Bend in the Next Road?

With new ideas stirring from every corner of our worlds, it’s refreshing to watch young employees and mid-lifers bring the kind of flexibility to work, that allows them to react fast to new information. That takes mental and emotional balance and is not easy to achieve for some people, though. Are you flexible?

Flexible attitudes build flexible practices that tend to help businesses through times of challenge or strain. You may have heard the expression… Stay open emotionally and intellectually and you will build internal flexibility. New research, facts now show flexibility operating within a human brain…

Did you know that flexibility.…

1. is a key concept  in intelligence according to Dr. Howard Gardner
2. allows individual differences to steer the brain in its many directions
3. can be seen as a distinguishing trait in MRI studies at Carnegie Mellon University to show superior intelligence
4. demonstrates more efficient use of the brain’s resources
5. shows greater connectivity between brain regions
6. enables a person to recruit additional regions of the brain quickly if needed
7. gives people the ability to accomplish more with whatever resources they have
8. requires less cortical activation for any given task
9. enables people to see opposing views and learn from opposites
10. brings balance to a person’s intellectual mix through multiple intelligence use

Rob Lebow put it this way… “New ideas shift from every corner. They show up disguised innocently as interruptions, contradictions and embarrassing dilemmas.”

Lelow added … “Beware of total strangers and friends alike who shower you with comfortable sameness, and remain open to those who make you uneasy. For they are the true messengers of the future.”

They are also harbingers of flexibility that can help you take that bend in your road into new career adventures. What do you think?
