According to Dr. Neimeyer … brains handle grief in different ways - depending on their impact from the loss. Research also showed that grief reactions are impacted by how a person’s loss influences view of themselves and their worlds.
Can you see that a person who maintains a healthy brain will have an easier time getting through the tough place of grief?
There are supports to help us. Some people look to faith or to close friends for comfort, while others take up new hobbies to find escapes from the pain.
Dr. Neimeyer points out though, that to much reliance on any support, can actually complicate a person's grief. He suggests that it’s best to listen closer to what a grieving person tells you and suggests that those who listen well, tend to find clues for our response, within the topics a grieving person addresses.
