
Ed Brenegar, a friend and fellow blogger over at Leading Questions, alerted me today to an interesting article, Purpose and Innovation, by Nikos Mourkogiannis. Busy as my day is, I could not let this fascinating piece go by, without comment.
It seems “the world's most successful companies have discovered that to maximize the effect of corporate innovations, they must first identify an overarching framework, or purpose, for internal
innovations.” Have they?
The article points out that … “This conclusion is backed by a Booz Allen Hamilton study of 1,000 corporations, which showed little correlation between R&D spending and corporate success.”

He also suggests that purpose helps a firm to seek change and go for the risks that generate discoveries. Can you describe the purpose of your business in a sentence or two? I'll have mine down by the end of today....
