Fellow writer and friend, Robyn McMaster, at Get Out Your Sneakers for Your Brain’s Sake! , asked a question which challenged me to look again at kinesthetic intelligence as it improves mental functioning in the workplace. What can we do to use more kinesthetic intelligence at work? ![]()
Robyn suggested… Breathe a sigh of relief because you can do plenty to increase your brain's efficiency according to some of the latest research findings. One way is to fight against hypertension. Hypertension silently impacts brain functioning. Research shows that high blood pressure, or hypertension, is at the root of much cognitive decline that has previously been attributed to aging.
She added that if you find yourself among the 65 million Americans with high blood pressure, you might try a …” fascinating approach is to practice deep breathing. You can begin by trying to take just 10 breaths a minute right at your desk.” Ok, I tried it. Nuff said – it worked! I plan to keep trying throughout your day though to develop a routine. “Deep breathing can boost your brain’s output right on the job!”
How do you bring movement and kinesthetic intelligence to your workplace?

At work I do deep breathing although I do not have hypertension, but it still awakens my body. I also do muscle clenches, which sounds weird, but works to keep the blood flowing. The most important part of my day though, is a brisk 20 minute walk at lunch. This completely invigorates me and awakes my body and spirit, especially on challenging days.
Thank you!
