We Won the Rotary Annual Golf Tournament!

My team won the Rotary District Golf Tournament today! It was actually the District 7120 Annual Golf Tournament … a tough … but professional course and we fought especially hard to pull it off!

What an adrenalin rush it was! Makes me think I’d like to play more tournaments … especially with a fun team like this one. We won.jpg
To the left … that’s Ruth Cronkwright ... who’s the Branch Leader for Hunt and upcoming Rotary President for Fairport. Next to her is Maureen Toombs … leader with Re-Max. I’m third to the left – still in disbelief … and then Dr. Robyn McMaster … who is Senior VP here at the MITA International Brain Based Renewal Center and blogger at Brain Based Biz. Thanks team – you rock!

We came in 4 under par after 18 tough holes at the
Charleston Pines at Lima Country Club and by coincidence my ball won closest to the pin, even though many of my tees were not all I wanted today. But we pulled as a team and when one shot off the other caught the slack – it carried on for all 18 holes. In the end … we almost hit 5 under and through a rather tired slip in the final hole …  we lost one shot and dropped to 4 under par. We’ll take it!

Today was a busy day at work but I am so glad I left it all to golf – because it’s really true that the human brain does better when you step back to play and laugh – so play golf we did! My own  brain was mighty grateful to be swinging as part of this fine …  winning team! We really had fun to because each one had the shot we needed just when we needed it!

Now I’ll recommend Charleston Pines Country Club to all golfers, because they were helpful and they made sure this large tournament rolled along without a glitch.

Work is still there even after we are back … but  after such a good game of golf we’ll do it in half time! Our team pulled it off as a collaborative and made us all proud to pull together and hit the peaks! Thanks Robyn, Ruth, and Maureen! It was a serotonin game all the way …  because of each of you!

Hi Ellen and Robyn,
What a great day! A true "summer vacation" packed into just one day! What a treat of a day. Thanks to Maureen for getting us set up to "play".

Congratulations, Ellen! Maybe you could come to Iowa to help me out in a week. Our local Rotary Club tournament is on the 19th. Since I'm not an avid linkster, I don't have much hope for coming home with the trophy...but we both know that's not what it's about! Good for you!!:)

Thanks Tom! Hey, you'll likely beat my score:-) out there. Only reason I even signed on was because I was away for my own Rotary's tournament three weeks earlier. Because I like to support one golf event per year I signed onto the big annual District match. On my way to the links ... my neighbor (a young guy just about to start his family) ... advised me to "just keep your head down and swing through".... It must have happened ... but I have not told him the results yet. Instead I am passing on his serious hint to you -- with the expectation you fly that flag for your group and have a great day! Thanks for stopping by, Tom!

Congradulations!!!!Ellen & Robyn - looking forward to a game of golf in Ireland in Feb 2007.

Ruth ... you made it what it was! Wow - can I trade you my car for your driver! Thanks kiddo!

Ireland you are on! Deal! And since we are not back there until February -- get those long johns out cause we'll get off the plane swinging for the links:-)

Congradulations!!!!Ellen & Robyn - looking forward to a game of golf in Ireland in Feb 2007.
Margaret

Good Going, Ellen and Robyn. Maybe you can give lessons at next year's Pittsford tournament.
Bob V.

Thanks for stopping by Bob! We've really wanted to get to the Pittsford golf match but seem to be traveling far too much lately! I am sure there are many folks at Pittsford who can teach us! Come to think of it, wouldn't it be fun to get a person who does teach to come and give us tips on a course -- for one of our meetings? Bob -- you may be onto something there!

Wow - Margaret I can already hear the swish of the balls sailing across Galway Bay! Note ... I said ACROSS ... and not IN! What fun it would be !!! February ... here we come:-)

It doesn’t surprise me that golf benefits a business brain … or that in winter I miss even those annoying challenges out on the back nine. Did you know, however, that golf can literally raise your business IQ? My kids... [Read More]
