Settlers of Caton- a Boston Break- and You're Likely Working Too Hard

Recently I took a break ... and spent a great week in the Boston area with my daughter and son-in-law. While there Tan and Neal taught me how to play Settlers of Caton. It’s a board game that originated in Germany in 1995, and is catching on all over since.

When I came back to New York , I bought my own copy. It set me back about $40.00 but this game is especially good for the brain, because while the interactions are quite simple and easy to pick up, deeper dynamics of this game soon become apparent if you play with people like my kids! 250px-Settlers_of_Catan_-_standard_map.jpg

I also like the fact that players are not eliminated and that a full game starts and ends in about an hour. There is a delightful mix of good plays and luck and it’s flexible enough to hold your interest since there are clever strategies that help you to get ahead ... and other moves … such as high trades from other players ... that hold opponents back.

Speaking of games … here is a great link to
free brain games you might enjoy also. I’m busy practicing how to become a smarter Settler before my kids come by for another round soon!

Are you playing any games away from your workload lately. It's good for the brain! Also, you've likely noticed that you tend to go back to work with new ideas. In my case... I also returned with a new game to woo me away from work a bit more often! How about you?
