The United Nations assigned tomorrow … September 21st … as our big day for global peace… . They planned ceasefires … and attempted to inspire non-violence …. Ok, that was 25 years ago … but is it not even more relevant this year? Why has harmony never yet worked?
More important … what would it take to create concord for just one day ... to strengthen a world that looks more to the comfort of helping humans … than to the revenge of killing people who differ?
In celebration of the “Peace” anniversary … BBC asked bloggers to explain what peace meant. Check out BBC posted details from 8 bloggers in conflict areas. ![]()
They described peace as ….
1. Natural wish that lives inside
2. Almost a dirty word
3. People afraid of that knock at the door
4. Children in horror without peace
5. A paradox
6. Blocked by surprise military campaign
7. Life without peace is unbearable hell
8. Most pressing need and burning ambition
It’s my belief that before reconciliation could be a lasting fixture … we’d have to learn strategies that make serenity more brilliant than war. Peace … as I see it anyway … is marked by brain based practices in daily life … rehearsed well ahead of conflicts … as an antidote to driving anger… that demands one’s way in war…. What peace it to you…?
