What music from Don Campbell’s amazing list could alter your mental state … add creativity … lift stresses that come from work … and give you a better day? I’ve been rereading his work… The Mozart Effect … and it dawns on me that music holds 10 significant steps into a better day… Why not start with the music you like best… and then vary your own mix a bit… depending on the results you’d like to get from your day. What do you think?
1. Listen to Gregorian chant and you’ll calm your minds as well as reduce stress.
2. Ok… ready to create something new? Then turn on slower Baroque music, such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi or Corelli, and you’ll stimulate your brain for new innovations.
3. It’s time to shift again if you want to learn a deeper lesson and remember details… Turn on classical music and let Haydn or Mozart move your brain waves into improved concentration and better memory.
4. Ready to remember special people you care for? Switch to romantic music and allow Schubert … Schumann … Tchaikovsky … or Chopin enrich your senses of gratitude… sympathy … and love.
5. Feeling in a mood to dream… about a better life with higher outcomes? Then hit the button for impressionist music … and relax while Debussy… Faure … or Ravel help your brain waves to unlock dreamlike images by reaching into your unconscious thoughts and beliefs.
6. Need more inspiration? If so… it may it’s Jazz… blues… soul … or calypso music that can uplift and inspire you into deep joy. Check this one out … because it can also dip you into a deeper sadness.
7. Check out salsa … rhumba … merengue or other South American music and feel your hearts race in ways that can relax you and awakening new adventures in your brain… at the same time.
8. Snap on big band, top 40 hits or country music to stir new emotions to add a spoonful of comfort. Throw in rock music for passion or as a background to some activity you do to release daily tensions … and watch it mask pain or cover up unpleasant noises.
9. Use ambient or new Age music such as Stephen Halpern or Brian Eno with their lack dominant rhythms … to expand your sense of space and time … or bring relaxed alertness.
10. Want more peace … or spiritual awareness? Religious and sacred music such as hymns or gospel make you feel grounded in the moment, and lead brain waves to deeper peace and spiritual awareness … that often transcends pain or dissatisfaction.
