Because I teach Online college courses … I’m often amazed at how many adult learners sign up for Online … before they ask key questions ... that could ratchet up their online journey…. Here are the top 10 questions most successful learners seem to be asking before they register for any course
1. Will the courses be asynchronous so learners can sign on and off at their convenience… without being required in class at any one time?
2. Are the degrees well received by other institutions in case a learner decides to transfer … for further degrees or other reasons?
3. What software is required… and does the campus provide any programs needed?
4. How well qualified are the instructors… and are they current leaders in their field?
5. Does the college allow for several courses to be taken at the same time?
6. How many students are in any one class … and how much faculty attention can be expected?
7. Does the campus require teamwork in Online courses or is the work individual for the most part?
8. Are required texts available in hardcopy … or digital … or both?
9. Will students stay together … from class to class … for the most part … or will each class bring a new set of students together?
10. How are tests given and what kind of assessment criteria can be expected?
