There’s a great post over at Tom Vander Well’s site QAQnA, and I agree with Tom’s interactive possibilities for great discussions at the blog. Tom states: “If you've been a wallflower around here, I want to personally ask you to dance - to join the conversation. At the bottom of each post you'll see a link the says "Comment". Click the link and it will bring up a form to add your comment.” Nice invitation and thanks for saying it so well Tom.
But what about the bloggers who go mute at their sites when
comments come in – how can we encourage bloggers to engage their readers more? When bloggers don't get back or selectively respond to comments at their blogs… they discourage return visits to that site. Have you asked questions or raised issues that still swirl in the blogosphere… unanswered? Sometimes… after thinking for hours about people’s ideas… I ask a question at a blog … and then get quite excited about hearing more or engaging deeper on a segment. It's always disappointing when a blogger does not return to read comments… or to respond in any way to our comments left there.
Other bloggers are models to all of us as an ambassador of good will on the comment stage, and it’s always fun to return to their sites to roll out a good back-and-forth. Thanks Tom for setting the golden bar worthy of so many of our readers! It keeps us coming back for more!
There’s more brains to blogs than telling people stuff. That’s because when we blog alone… we use linguistic intelligence only to tell people ideas or perhaps to challenge them with questions. Only when we connect and loop with others though do we use interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences to generate high-performance networks. What do you think?
