Study Shows Texting Could Catch More Crimes in the Workplace

The University of Leicester just reported that psychologists are closer to using texting language to provide new tools for criminal investigation. Thanks to their forensic linguistic project a person may soon be identified by their texting styles.
They used this method to investigate of murder in 2002 where an alibi was broken based on the evidence that the murderer and not the victim had sent crucial texting.bmpmessages from her phone. How is it possible? In that case… text analyses revealed that the texts had not been written by the victim herself, but that they had been faked.

Linguistic analysis can reveal secrets for criminal investigation, which otherwise are easy to hide.

This six-month study will compare similarities and differences in texting style, between texts sent by individuals and among networks of people who communicate through mobile phone texting.

The study also plans to examine the influence of peer groups, upon
writing style and texting language. In other words,  the study will observe how one person's style is influenced by texts received from friends or family.

Do you see any applications of cell phone texting observations for your workplace?
