Learn From Another Golfer and Refuse the One-Size-Fits-All Method

If you’ve ever had a personal golf coach you'll likely agree that  learning from another golfer in this way … may be the only way to go …. Especially for those of us who like to learn from experts we respect and who respect who we are and how we differ from the pack.

One of the reasons I love to golf today… and can hold my own on the links … is because I had a personal coach when I started. James is a golf pro with a difference … because he feels that there are no fixed rules for all golfers. golf teacher.jpgInstead, James watches the way you move, stand and swing naturally … and then makes suggestions based on what you tend to do in unique ways. He basically took his expertise into my world in a way that hooked onto the few skills I already possessed for the game, but didn’t know it.

Many business colleagues tell me they dislike golf because it makes them feel “lesser than” … and that always makes me sad. My coach caddied my bag for a whole season …all the while making suggestions and encouraging my 2-bit strengths for the swing …. It surprised me he could see any strengths … as I clipped trees, flopped into sand and splashed into drinks … but he did and I learned how to use my own strengths the way he used his. Your brain is wired learn more from people than books or classes at times…. What do you think?

Your interpersonal intelligence includes your ability to receive from and contribute to other people’s ideas about golf. That’s the part of your brain that allows you to hear, understand, help and learn from others around you… because of the unique part they can play in your game.

Why not golf your next game with a person you admire, enjoy, laugh with or are challenged by… and watch how much you’ll learn about golf. Discuss your games together with others who golf well and watch their strengths and weaknesses on the course. We learn what not to do from others as well as what to emulate.

List one new strategy gained from another person… and you have already begun to develop more interpersonal intelligence for better golf.
