Would you do anything different today … if you changed just one belief about business? Believe it and you are more likely to do it … that’s how the human brain unlocks mental key to more success. It's also why you should check out your business beliefs! Why so?
The brain works more in your favor if you act on beliefs rather than rely on the myths that do many business leaders in…. The brain also has inner mechanisms to replace myths with realities. You’d be surprised how old information rolls away to make room for more reliable facts that give you better choices. Most business failures come connected to myths about business that result in poor actions. Any myths that lock down your profits lately?
Over at Bizformer.com today there’s an interesting article by Patricia Simone … on Small-Business Myths Busted. The top ten small business myths intrigued me because we act from deep-seated beliefs … and because of this many a business deals nose-dives as a result flawed ideas. When your belief is more myth than reality … you can expect the deal to die. It’s also true that brain based strategies take you past myths.
Do you agree with Simone’s top ten myths:
Myth No. 1: "The government has grants for startups."
Myth No. 2: "The SBA loans money directly to small businesses."
Myth No. 3: "Venture capitalists loan money to startups."
Myth No. 4: "I'll have more time to do what I want."
Myth No. 5: "I'll be able to write everything off."
Myth No 6: "I can pay myself whatever I want."
Myth No. 7: "If I create a website, I'll get traffic (or the more popular 'If I build it, they will come.')"
Myth No. 8: "I should be profitable after six months, because I'm an expert at what I do."
Myth No. 9: "I don't need a marketing plan or marketing materials. This product/service sells itself."
Myth No. 10: "If I'm not getting funding, I don't need a business plan."
Check out the real story for each myth you've acted on ... and make a decision today based on more reality than myth. That is your new neuron pathway toward a better business deal, based on what can happen when you remove a myth. It works … because each time you act on a reality … your brain rewires for further success based on that action. Look like a new opportunity is out there for you today? A deal on the other side of myths that hold you back?

Yes, I feel that people believe that these myths are all true.
Being a serial entrepreneur with a very supportive partner/wife, I know what it takes to make it in the world of small business. Having a belief and acting on it is what has made me successful over the years in small business. To be a creative business thinker you need to use all of your brain to creatively solve complex business problems and or create new ideas.
What is frustrating is that others see entrepreneurs as the myths that are portrayed here. For example, “you can pick up the tab, you can write it off”, or “you only have to work 20 hours a week because you own the company”. My brother-in-law once told me that we could just write checks to cover a vacation to Disney World and say it was a business expense. He didn’t understand the concept that the money has to come from somewhere.
Somewhere along the way it has also become “glamorous” to be a small business owner. As one myth states, “you can take all the time off you want”. I only wish that there was more media coverage of what it really takes to become a business owner. I believe that less people would be interested in this “idea” if they really knew what it meant to consider your self an entrepreneur.
