At the "Internet Time Blog" … Jay Cross’ post … Good Stuff to Know offers insights from the Decker Grid System for preparing a talk… that really invite brain based strategies to pull them off during the session. Thanks Jay!
For point of view - why not have the guys tell their point of view in an inner circle first – with gals standing outside the circle as if they
were not in room? Then … switch to the gals in the center and have the women discuss the exact same topic while men listen without any expressions. It tricks the brain into gender roles that allow the opposite gender to hear from new perspectives.
For listeners inclusion - why not do a quick survey of three key areas on the topic while people get seated and then refer to these briefly during talk?
For benefits - why not pass a talking stick around and have participant tell about their action plan based on the talk. Or have a larger group tell their plan to the person near them and then call on a few to share in the larger group.
For action steps – why not negotiate a few common action steps that people might try – based on how they wish to apply the ideas. Use some of the contributions they shared earlier as they considered benefits to piece together and suggested action plan for their use.
Great insights Jay, and they really do lend themselves to brain based strategies at work. Any more strategies you see that could work well here?
