I was interested in a headline on the Democrat and Chronicle front page this morning that announced…”Kodak losses up; more worldwide layoffs likely."
Surprisingly, "Kodak reported a 7th consecutive quarterly loss this
morning, but CEO Antonio M. Perez was upbeat. "Our second-quarter results demonstrate continuing progress in the execution of our digital business strategy," he said.”
It seemed to me that Perez being upbeat did not match the message this story reported... and that make many more of his workers fear for their jobs. So I looked inside stories I’ve been hearing from many friends in Kodak to hear their messages which seemed less upbeat:
“Kodak cares more about profit than people…”
“I hate going to work because morale is so low…”
“leaders at Kodak no longer care what we think…”
I think I need to go back and ask these leaders at Kodak …”What makes your CEO so upbeat… in spite of losses…? What do you think they’ll tell us? How will they explain the mind’s take on reality when a leader appears upbeat and his workers do not? Why the disconnect?
